Toyota Remains Top Global Carmaker for Three Years in a Row!

Toyota’s global sales, including truck-maker Hino Motors Ltd and small car maker Daihatsu Motor Co, increased 8 per cent from 2009. The phenomenal increase in Toyota’s total sales was driven by excellent sales growth in China and other Asian nations.


Last year, Toyota sold 1.94 million vehicles in the North American market. In its home Japanese market, Toyota sales jumped 10 percent last year from the previous year to 2.20 million vehicles. Thanks to the excellent tax breaks and incentives offered on green cars by the Japanese government, Toyota sold 315,669 units of its globally popular hybrid car Prius.


Toyota’s overall overseas sales increased 7 percent to 6.21 million vehicles. Toyota vehicle sales went up by 19 percent in China and 24 percent in other Asian nations.
