Best Family Cars of 2012 Include Three 2012 Toyota Models

Three 2012 Toyota models among best vehicles for families

For the fifth year, Parents magazine and Edmunds.com have collaborated to compile a list of the year’s Best Family Cars. Several factors were considered, including safety (every vehicle on the list is equipped with antilock brakes, electronic stability control, and a minimum of six air bags), gas mileage, perceived value, and kid-friendliness.

In the Sedan category, the 2012 Toyota Camry was praised for its space, comfort, and sure handling. It won points for the spacious back seat, with enough room for taller adults and cumbersome car seats. Total seating capacitiy is 5 passengers, including 3 car seats. Other positive attributes are convenient technology (Entune, standard USB jack and Bluetooth capability, available backup camera), excellent fuel economy (21 city/35 highway), quiet ride, and ample trunk space. The 2012 Toyota Camry is an IIHS Top Safety Pick.

The 2012 Toyota Prius V was honored in the High-Mileage category, for which vehicles must achieve 40 mpg highway.  The Prius V boasts mileage of 44 city/40 highway, while providing the cargo space of a small SUV – enough room for a travel crib and luggage. With total seating capacitiy of 5 passengers, including 3 car seats, the rear seats slide forward and back in two sections to accommodate differing heights, and they also recline. Modern conveniences include standard backup camera, USB jack, Bluetooth capability, touch-screen audio system, and a hands-free smart key that unlocks the driver's side door as you approach. The 2012 Toyota Prius V is also an IIHS Top Safety Pick.

The 2012 Toyota Sienna earned accolades in the Large Vehicle category chosen for its flexible configurations and engine options. Standard second-row seating is oversized captain’s chairs that slide forward and back and recline, but seating capacity can be boosted to eight with the optional bench seat. However, the last 2 rows can also fold down for hauling furniture or other large items. Traveling perks include a three-zone climate system, one-touch power windows, deep door pockets, and spacious glove boxes. Options include a four-cylinder or V6 engine and all- or 4-wheel drive, and available power lift-gate and backup camera. The 2012 Toyota Sienna is also an IIHS Top Safety Pick.

Toyota of Concord Congratulates Toyota 100 Cars for Good Finalists

Toyota has announced the finalists in the second annual Toyota 100 Cars for Good competition, which awards 100 new Toyota vehicles to 100 nonprofit organizations over 100 days.

The 500 finalists were evaluated by a panel of independent experts in areas of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy. They represent a wide range of services, including animal welfare, education, environment, arts, health, veterans’ affairs and public safety.

Finalists will be provided with a digital video camera, training toolkit and online advertising credits courtesy of Toyota, to raise awareness of their organizations and attract voters to their 100 Cars for Good campaign. Each finalist will make a video explaining how the new vehicle will help their community efforts, and the videos will be featured on Toyota’s Facebook page at www.100carsforgood.com.

Voting for the winners of Toyota 100 Cars for Good begins May 14 and continues through August 21.  Five organizations will be featured each day on Toyota’s Facebook page. A winner is chosen each day based on popular vote, and the four runners-up each day receive a $1,000 grant from Toyota.

The winning organizations have their choice of a Camry Hybrid, Highlander SUV, Prius v hybrid, Sienna minivan, Sienna Mobility or Tundra full-sized pickup, whichever new Toyota they believe best suits their needs. Toyota Financial Services will also provide a six-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty will also be provided for each vehicle.

Toyota of Concord was proud to participate in last year’s Toyota 100 Cars for Good contest by presenting new vehicles to two deserving local non-profits. This year, finalists from North Carolina include A Child’s Place of Charlotte, Adult Day and Health Care Services in Matthews, Bridge II Sports in Durhan, MedicForce in Almond, and project hope consulting Inc. in Charlotte. We congratulate the finalists and encourage you to vote for your favorite worthy organization.
