Toyota and the Wyland Foundation created the 2012 National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation to honor the 40th Anniversary of the Clean Water Act. The competition was held throughout April and encouraged residents across the United States to make online pledges to reduce their water use. Cities with the highest percentage of residents who pledged were recognized as the winners.

Participants in the winning cities are now eligible to win a drawing for over $50,000 in prizes, including custom-designed sprinkler systems and showerheads, water-saving toilets, Lowe’s gift cards, and the grand prize of a Toyota Prius c Hybrid.

Toyota has a long-standing commitment to conservation and sustainability and encourages the public to share this commitment through a variety of company initiatives. Support for the Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation also came from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Water, U.S. Forest Service, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, WaterPik, Rain Bird, Lowe’s, Sterling Plumbing, PADI and Project AWARE.

Toyota of Concord applauds the following cities for their commitment to conservation:
Laguna Beach, California
Victoria, Minnesota
South Shore, Kentucky
Charlestown, New Hampshire
Manhattan Beach, California
Eden Prairie, Minnesota
Fort Pierce, Florida
Quakertown, Pennsylvania
